I have seen the series but thank you for posting.It is interesting the tweets where the link was, like "do you see anyone familar?" "the fans will be surprised", MJ estate with MJ separated from Estate, little things like that.
I am always confused with E"cas and Navi.
I didn't underestand why such a big deal in this visit and why they called so much attention to Michael's impersonator.
Branca looks tired and thinner.
About the promotion they did a lot when they lauched the press release about the Imortal tour. If I recall correctly the tickets sold out for 2011 really fast, people could get tickets tickets only for 2012 and Cirque had to add some extra dates on 2011.
First show at Oct 2 and second show at Oct 7, very close to Michael Foverer Tribute, but no one is saying this is an inappropriate date because of Murray's trial.
They said there will be 3 sets of troupes, one going through America and 2 others taking the show to the rest of the world, after 2011.

Cirque goes big with Jackson tour

MONTREAL -- With Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour set to premiere Sunday at the Bell Centre, before touring across Canada this fall, the Cirque du Soleil is coming out of its comfort zone.
This is its first show conceived specifically for arenas.
"Le Cirque likes to take risks, and that is even more true this time around," Cirque du Soleil president and CEO Daniel Lamarre said in an interview earlier this week.
"Immortal is really taking us elsewhere. It's an interpretation of a rock show by Cirque du Soleil. In seeing the show this week, we decided, Guy (Laliberte) and I, that this would start a new type of show."
Arena shows comprise a big market already occupied by global music stars such as Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and others, whose tour profits are enormous.
"There is big potential there," Lamarre said. "For us, our big challenge is to offer this type of show, but without having the star (Michael Jackson) there. We had to deal with those obstacles.
"We don't take anything for granted here. We are going into it with a lot of humility. This is a very risk undertaking for us, because we are hitting a new market and a way of touring that is very different to what we have done until now. But if we don't want to become stagnant, it's important to do it this way."
Dedicated to the creative universe of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour will tour Canada and then the U.S. for a year before moving on to Europe and Asia.
"We hope to tour for four years," Lamarre said. "People may not be aware of it, but there will be many foreign promoters from Asia, Japan, South America and Europe that will be in Montreal on Sunday night to see what the Circus is doing in the context of a rock show. The reaction in Montreal will surely have an influence on the show's longevity."
In North America, the promoters were fairly easy to convince, Lamarre admitted.
"We had a card up our sleeve in Michael Jackson," he said. "Michael Jackson is still extremely contemporary. And all of this is done following (the planned) concert (This Is It) that would have had huge success in London. He sold thousands of seats in 24 hours for his shows in London. And we experienced something similar when we sold tickets in North America. We sold more than $40 million in tickets in 24 hours. This is unheard of."
Though familiar with moving from city to city with the equipment for its show under the tent, the Cirque du Soleil had to adapt to new logistics for the arena tour. A promoter at the Bell Centre told Lamarre that the previous biggest production ever staged at that arena required 26 trucks to move in all the equipment. "We have 38," Lamarre said.
This $60 million arena show that sold $40 million worth of tickets within 24 hours when it was first announced, is not like anything the Cirque has done before, although its genre is similar to that of Viva ELVIS and LOVE (the Beatles show) in Las Vegas.
This is a dazzling, fast-pace spectacle for people with short attention spans, flitting from one song to the next, seldom settling down with one for a whole number. All is deftly rearranged, using live music and Jackson’s recorded voice. The audience is overwhelmed with images, some of them on screens, others created through maniupulation of quirky props, like a mega-sized white glove, a huge Jackson hat that conceals several dancers or a pair of giant shoes and socks, with dancers inside.
The show offers a fairly comprehensive sampling of Jackson’s better-known songs. Early on, there’s a poignant rendition of Have You Seen My Childhood? Some songs, like Dancing Machine and Black or White, get more of a workout than others. Fantasies of Neverland come alive, one after another, sometimes at very high volume. There’s quiet time, too, with Jackson speaking his own lyrics.
A solo dancer/acrobat in sparkling white does mime shtick that reminds us where the moonwalk came from. He returns again and again throughout the show, at one point doing a series of startling backwards cartwheels. (Do not try this at home.) Unlike most Cirque shows, this one, directed by Jamie King, is prepared to do a couple of encores. And on Sunday night it was clear that 15,000 people wanted more. And more.
The musical fantasy world of Michael Jackson was revived Sunday when Cirque du Soleil’s “Immortal World Tour” tribute to the pop idol made its global premiere in Montreal.
A colorful range of special effects, stage smoke and video clips combined with dynamic dance routines like those that the “King of Pop” was renowned for in a spectacle estimated to have cost $60 million to bring to life.
The show was attended by Jackson’s three children, his mother Katherine and three of his brothers, and attracted fans from across Canada and the United States.
“I have been a fan of Michael’s since I was 12, so that is 30 years,” said Suzy, a Canadian who traveled from northeastern Ontario for the performance.
Another fan, named Arthur, said the late star’s music had transcended the impressive choreographed routines performed on stage. “The acrobatics were good but I did not really need them,” he said. “The music filled my body.”
The set design was dominated by pictures and videos of children and images of “Neverland”, Jackson’s massive ranch and former home in California, and a large tree.
It. Was. Awesome ... at least that's what EVERYBODY seems to be saying about the very first performance of the new Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil show -- which kicked off in Montreal last night.
Several members of the Jackson family reportedly looked on ... along with more than 13,000 screaming fans ... as the Cirque people danced, contorted and acrobatted through tons of MJ's greatest hits.
The tour is set to roll through 47 cities -- before a different version of the show sets up shop in Vegas.

Complex man, simple point
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL
The world may have lost the creative genius that was Michael Jackson, but Canada's Cirque du Soleil, with its renowned imaginative power, is able to create a voice for Jackson that resonates.
Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, which opened at the John Labatt Centre Tuesday night, is a $60-million intense, striking, dizzying look at all Jackson was and what he might have continued to contribute to entertainment.
But the show does lack a focus and I can't help wonder what could have been if Jackson and Cirque collaborated as they had at one time hoped.
What would a Cirque show be like with Jackson's fictive touches on it?
Instead, Cirque did the best it could in bringing together people who worked closely with Jackson, including Immortal's writer and director Jamie King, its musical director, Greg Phillinganes (who worked with Jackson for more than 25 years) and some members of the live band in this show who had a history with Jackson.
Phillianganes and musical designer Kevin Antunes had access to Jackson's master recordings.
The result is a concert-theatrical fusion that includes Jackson's vocals in 32 of his songs and many more for transitions that link music and the uncompromising movement of Cirque performers.
Jackson music fans may be disappointed that more Jackson numbers aren't played out in full. And of course, there are only Jackson imitators here, who can't measure up to the man.
The show opens with a childhood scene as we remember a young Jackson with all of his innocence.
The Jackson Five are represented by five performers, who dance using Jackson's iconic moves as the music of the hit group fills the arena.
The musicians in the show also get a chance to shine and can be seen at the side of the stage during segments and on the giant screens.
The mime in white and silver glitter, representing the spirit of Jackson appears throughout the show, creating a seam and flow.
This mime can dance and shows off his goods in the number Dancing Machine. "I just can't control my feet," Jackson sings.
At the same time that Jackson is remembered and celebrated in London and other cities in North America, the trial of the man charged with involuntary manslaughter in his death sadly plays out in Los Angeles.
It's a poignant paradox, and one that should be noted, because for all of his talent, fame and fortune, Jackson was a man who longed for a childhood that never was, as taped recordings in the trial reveal.
"Remember the child," we hear in the show.
This show doesn't shy away from that and some of this despair can be felt here. In the scene Smooth Criminal, five fanatics want to be in Neverland, but the gates are closed to them.
There could still be more of the dark nuances of Jackson's life in Immortal. It's one thing to pay homage to this superstar in an elaborate show, but another not to address the complexities of his life.
Immortal, however, does reflect Jackson's quirkiness that caused some to mock him. There's his pet chimp Bubbles, played by a dancer, who dances with the mime.
The pageantry elephants who float along the stage during the song Ben, is is a crafty way to allude to the report that Jackson had purchased the bones of Joseph Merrick, known as the Elephant Man.
At times the glitter is overdone but it does reflect Jackson's penchant for being big and bold whenever he was in the public eye.
The mystery of Jackson's life is also close at hand in this fantastical production.
When King brought together his Cirque team, they met at Jackson's Neverland ranch. King noted the giving tree where Michael often wrote and decided to make it the centrepiece of Immortal's set.
The giving tree branches apparently had to be sent back to Montreal for mechanical touch-ups to ensure safety for the performers.
As Cirque plans to tour this show for at least four years, this soaring tribute will continue to spread Jackson's messages of caring for the planet, equality, peace and hope.

Michael Jackson to live forever in Cirque du Soleil
Featuring the work of 10 top choreographers, some of whom actually worked with Jackson back in the day, the show has pole dancing to Dangerous, acrobatics to Scream and a Cirque-ish take on the famous video for Thriller, complete with a squad of dancing ghouls. Expect lots of other eye candy and plenty of jaw-dropping aerial spectacle for which Cirque is famous, all set to the tune of songs that have been drilled into pop culture consciousness. This thing can’t lose.
Rarely has Cirque du Soleil had such focus. The last two touring productions that came through Edmonton were rendered in that vague Cirqueular Esperanto common to all Cirque shows, titled Alegria and Dralion. Seriously, what the heck does that mean? OK, Alegria means “Jubilation” in Spanish. No help here. Dralion seems to be a cross between a lion and a dragon. No further clues were found in the shows themselves, in each case a meaningless, marvellous mish-mash of creepy clowns, goofy mimes, dangling opera singers, bizarre percussionists, extreme trapeze artists, twisted jugglers and many other undefined freaks you’d normally see at a typical street festival, with a relentless afro-samba-rock-new-age soundtrack that sounds like John Tesh meets Enya at a Gypsy wedding. The folks enjoyed what they saw, but challenge anyone to tell you what they saw and they’ll probably draw a blank, beyond exclaiming, “Well, I loved the part where the Asian contortionist folded herself in half while balancing on one finger while twirling 100 feet in the air.”
This is different. The theme here is all Michael Jackson all the time – a big enough topic yielding enough material to fill five such shows, all of them different. Jackson is bigger than ever, of course. His estate has earned roughly $500 million since his death in June 2009, according to Forbes magazine. These particular Cirque shows gross about $2.5 million per night. There are 56 dates in North America alone, so do the math. And while you’re at it, and while the tour goes overseas, factor in the undisclosed millions from the permanent Michael Jackson Cirque show being prepared for the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, to open in 2013.
Interesting this numbers... 56 dates in North America and at 2013 Michael will be 55 years old. Very close.
140 millions for 56 shows. I think Michael will make the Guiness again.

Cirque du Soleil’s ‘IMMORTAL’ captures ‘spirit of Michael’

The Michael Jackson-themed Cirque du Soleil show, “IMMORTAL,” lands at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night.
Being “immortal” was not in the cards for Michael Jackson.
Yet that didn’t deter Cirque du Soleil from bringing Jackson back to life, in the same way it revived Elvis in “Viva Elvis” and John Lennon and George Harrison in “Love.”
“Michael Jackson: The IMMORTAL” is even bigger and flashier than those shows and is reputed to be the biggest event ever to hit the Spokane Arena.
Think of it as a hybrid between a giant rock concert and a typical Cirque acrobatic extravaganza. It premiered in Montreal last month and arrives at the Arena for a single show Saturday (downsized from its previously announced two-night run).
Variety magazine critic Richard Ozounian summed up the reaction at the premiere like this: “(It) manages to capture the essence of Jackson better than seems possible. … Early reaction in Montreal indicated die-hard Jackson fans are ecstatic, while non-believers remain so throughout.”
Well, there probably aren’t too many non-believers buying tickets to a show titled “Michael Jackson: The IMMORTAL.” Die-hard fans, meanwhile, get what they crave.
“We feel his presence,” said Cirque du Soleil’s Maxime Charbonneau.
One thing it definitely does not have: a Michael Jackson impersonator.
“You cannot replace Michael,” Charbonneau said.
The show has some of the traditional Cirque elements: Acrobats will fly. It will also have elaborate production numbers, which attempt to capture the “spirit of Michael,” said Charbonneau.
In fact, there’s a character called the Mime, who more or less embodies the spirit of Jackson.
And Jackson’s voice will fill the arena from the moment the show starts.
“We had access to his original recordings from the early days to his last week,” said Charbonneau. “There’s a big 12-member live band, so the only thing that’s recorded is Michael’s voice.”
The band features a number of veterans from Jackson’s own band, including Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffett, who dates from the old Jackson Five days.
It also includes several musicians slated to play on Jackson’s ill-fated “This Is It” tour, for which he was preparing when he died in June 2009.
The cast list totals 65 people, including 25 dancers and 12 musicians. The rest will be acrobats and various other Cirque performers.
“There are some acrobatic numbers, some tumbling numbers, some aerial numbers,” said Charbonneau.
The production values should live up to the spectacular Cirque standards.
Variety’s reviewer reported that “the high, golden gates of Neverland part to lead us through a fantasy world where an animatronic baby Michael floats through the arena on a hot air balloon, while acrobats dressed in black float through the sky, their bodies illuminated to turn them into constellations.”
This show is, as the people at the Spokane Arena have taken pains to remind us, the biggest show ever to hit the facility – at least as measured by the truckload.
It takes 37 tractor-trailers to transport it. In fact, Cirque blamed the cancellation of next Sunday’s previously scheduled Arena date on the complicated logistics of moving this gigantic show.
But, still, you shouldn’t expect it to be like a typical high-flying Cirque show. Nor should you even expect it to be like the Elvis or Beatles shows in Las Vegas.
“Those other shows are more intimate, performed in more intimate theaters,” said Charbonneau. “This show fills the entire arena. It’s the first time Cirque has ventured into the pop-rock concert world.”
So far, it’s attracting plenty of people who take Jackson seriously.
“At every show, we have people wearing hats, gloves, ‘Thriller’ red leather jackets,” said Charbonneau. “They buy tickets in front and dance throughout the entire show.”
Of course, not all of the Jackson-related news has been happy lately. Yet this show is about his art, not about his stormy personal life.
“We do this in tribute to a great artist, not only a well-known celebrity,” said Charbonneau.
• The show begins “in front of the gilded gates of Neverland” and ends with a “Man in the Mirror” finale.
• The set includes a 36-foot tall “Giving Tree,” based on an oak tree at Neverland.
• There will be two stages, one at one end of the Arena and one in the middle, connected by a runway.
• A sequined Michael Jackson “glove” stands nearly 6 feet tall – big enough for dancers to stand inside.
• The show features 32 Jackson songs, plus “bits and pieces” of other songs.
• It was produced in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson.

I was doing some math here. 56 shows dates makes 140 million, only with Cique doing the tour through Canada and US. From this Michael (MJ estate) has 50%. So, Michael is making about 70 millions.
Let's say that the cost is about 50% (it never like that) so he gets in cash for the 56 shows 35 millions. This is what Michael makes a YEAR with songs rights and the use of his image.
This does not go to Sony or AEG and it is more than Colony Capital paid for Neverland.
This also does not take in account the permanent residence at Las Vegas or the shows that Cirque will do around the world.
In this ratio Michael not only pay any debt to Sony but at 2013 he can even buy the 50% of Sony/ATV owned by Sony..

Michael Jackson has remained just as big a star in death as he was in life — if not bigger. Like Elvis, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra and Tupac Shakur before him, interest in all things Jackson spiked following the singer's death and continues to be strong two years after his shocking passing on June 25, 2009.
Jackson's name has been in the news on a daily basis over the past month thanks to the involuntary manslaughter trial of his former physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who was found guilty, the jury announced Monday. It's not the kind of publicity the Jackson estate is looking for, but with the trial now over, the focus will likely turn to the next projects from the singer's vaults.
To date, the estate has been busy lining up one project after another, beginning with 2009's This Is It, the documentary on Jackson's planned comeback tour that grossed close to $200 million worldwide on its way to becoming the #2 music documentary of all time.
That was followed by the release of Michael, a posthumous album with unreleased Jackson tracks that sold more than 500,000 copies, alongside more than 1 million units of the This Is It soundtrack. There were also 3 million units shifted of the Ubisoft video game "Michael Jackson: The Experience," which helped rack up the more than $1 billion the estate has brought in since Jackson's death through a combination of music sales, film/TV revenue, music publishing, licensing and a $31 million recording contract with Sony.
Cirque du Soleil's traveling MJ extravaganza, "Immortal," made its American debut this month, boasting a soundtrack that features a number of mash-ups and reimaginings of the singer's music, plus some previously unheard bits. The show's soundtrack is slated to hit stores November 21.
When the show hits Las Vegas in December, it will coincide with the annual Michael Jackson Fan Fest (December 3-14), the ritual gathering of the flock that this year will include a raft of never-before-seen memorabilia from the King of Pop. Among the items at the first-ever estate-authorized fest at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino are the actual gates of Neverland Ranch, Jackson's personal book collection, the 1999 Rolls Royce Seraph limousine with 24-karat gold embellishments designed by the singer, the 10-foot-tall HIStory statue, the spaceship set from the "Scream" video, the throne from the Egyptian-themed "Remember the Time" clip and the tank from the "Earth Song" live performance.
Also reportedly due soon is a repackaging of Jackson's 1987 Bad album, which, like previous reissues, is expected to feature previously unearthed bonus material. The original album featured landmark songs such as the title track, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror," "Smooth Criminal" and "Dirty Diana."
Given the amount of unreleased material that was reportedly left in the vaults at Jackson's death, there is a strong possibility that another album of unheard tunes could be in the offing soon as well.

Michael Jackson's vast hoard of treasures has been hauled out of warehouses to indulge his legions of heartsick fans.
They will get a close look at rare memorabilia, from his spangled 1980s Fantasy Glove collection to the rocket from his Leave Me Alone video, during the estate-authorized Michael Jackson Fan Fest Dec. 3-14 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
A $35 ticket entitles the visitor to a scheduled four-hour immersion in the King of Pop's material world. His Neverland Ranch gates will be erected; fans can stroll through Scream's spaceship set and sit on the throne from his Egyptian-themed Remember the Time video.
Furniture from Neverland will be displayed, as will his model of France's Pierrefonds Castle and a 1999 Rolls-Royce Seraph limo, with 24-karat gold embellishments, that the pop icon designed.
"They'll see the way he liked to live, what he bought, just his personal taste," says Miko Brando, Michael's close friend and bodyguard for 28 years. "It's nice to show his fans what he had."
Brando and Jackie Jackson, Michael's older brother and Jackson 5 bandmate, recently showed off a cross-section of the goods on the NBC set of Access Hollywood Live.
The superstar "wanted the best for himself and for his fans," Jackson says. "The fans will get a great look at everything he bought, what he stood for, how he wanted things. I'm excited myself to see some of the items I've been hearing about."
Jackson caught his first glimpse of the massive telescope Miko and Michael picked up on a whim at a camera shop in the late '80s. "He loved to shop," Miko says. "He was very picky and knew exactly what he wanted. This is a good start, to show fans some of this property. We'll see what reaction we get. If it's good, we'll continue it."
Jackie, who will appear with brothers Marlon and Tito at a Q&A session during Fan Fest Dec. 4, says his family is proud to carry Michael's legacy forward: "I'm sure the fans would want us to."
Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death in 2009, will be sentenced Nov. 29, four days before Fan Fest.
"It was devastating for my mom to see it every day and go to court," Jackie says. "No matter what happens, Paris, Prince and Blanket don't have a father. I am happy with the outcome, that the man was found guilty. There will be some peace and closure someday, but it doesn't bring my brother back."

New Cirque du Soleil Show Is Michael Jackson 'On Steroids'
Eleven months after announcing the Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour, writer/director Jamie King and his collaborators at Cirque du Soleil are itching to get the production under way on Oct. 2 in Montreal. And the Jackson estate -- which authorized and partnered in the project -- is making other plans for 2012.
Michael Jackson's next posthumous album will be released in November and be chocked full of newly discovered outtakes and alternate versions of old hits, Epic Records announced on Monday.
"Immortal" is actually the soundtrack for the new Cirque du Soleil show, "The Immortal World Tour," which debuted on Sunday. The album features an alternative version of the Jackson 5 hit, "ABC," as well as a series of mashups and remixes. His first posthumous album, 2010's "Michael," reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in a brief, 3-week stint on the chart.
New Cirque Show Is Michael Jackson's Music 'On Steroids'
The new stage show and tour is comprised of more than 60 songs from Jackson's catalog, but the album release will be available as a 15-track album or a deluxe 22-track album that will go on sale Nov. 21.
Billboard.com spoke to Jamie King, the director of the Cirque production, who said "the big, iconic songs are there, with some other songs mixed and matched throughout. There's some younger Michael in there as well, 'Ben,' the Motown stuff...It's a mixed bag of tricks in terms of songs. It's a music-driven show, so we're making sure the music is the narrative that drives us and takes us on the journey."
Jackson had a treasure trove of unreleased material upon his death in 2009. "Immortal" has the full backing of his estate, co-managed by attorney Howard Weitzman, who told us that in addition to the Cirque show, the Jackson estate is contemplating several other projects. The 25th anniversary of the "Bad" album in 2012 may be commemorated with a special package similar to 2008's "Thriller 25," while another set of unreleased material to follow 2010's "Michael" collection is also being considered.
"It's a pretty vibrant estate in the sense that it continues to generate not just catalog opportunities but plenty of other ideas," Weitzman says.

Michael Jackson was a genius of unrivaled artistic grace who gave the world a story that may never be fully absorbed. Eccentric to the point of painful isolation, yet deeply loved by myriad fans of many different stripes, Jackson embodied the extremes of America's glittering, punishing popular culture. His music ranks among its highest achievements, while the details of his life and death, at age 50 in 2008, confound us.
I HOPE THE YEAR OF DEATH IS A TYPO .....a very serious one though....

Will you be there is in this video and it sounds like a live perfomance like in the memorial. I tried to hear it at the Imortal album and the song is not there... weird.. why this song is not part of the album?

Something intriguing in this review:

This early into the musical afterlife of Michael Jackson, it’s hard to know how to react to something like “Immortal.” Should we be excited about an officially sanctioned DJ mix/score to the new Cirque du Soleil production of the same name, peppered with odd vocal interludes, weird New Age accents, crazy funk breakdowns and something called “The Mime Segment”? Or should we reserve our enthusiasm for whatever lies in the archive that’s rarer and/or more revealing of our fallen superstar, no doubt waiting in the wings for the next prime-time opportunity?
More precisely: Whose interest is “Immortal” serving? Is the goal to expand Jackson as an artist, an estate, a brand or a visionary?

Note it says Epic, not Sony. Epic records has a mysterious role in all of this. Epic records was a Michael Jackson Company, Michael's label, and it is still listed as Michael's record company.
Sometime ago, Epic records was "bought" by Sony and the page and everything disappeared. Since than Epic records has been linked to Sony.
After the event on Jun 25, Epic record home page came back (we have this in another thread "Michael is taking over", I guess) and the name Epic record started to show up again, associated to Michael's name.
Now, If Epic records is owned by Sony, why Sony is not mentioned?
They talk how they made the album. The video is at the site. Wonderful to hear Michael's voice. No credits to Sony but to Epic records.

Michael Jackson's music lives on well after his death and fans are having the opportunity to experience a new connection to his legacy with 'Immortal,' a posthumous release that features songs from the Cirque du Soleil show, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour. A new video explores what's available on the LP, out now.
The soundtrack of tunes incorporates the King of Pop's spoken word poetry as well as his famed tracks like 'Beat It,' 'They Don't Care About Us' and 'Smooth Criminal.' The difference here is that his loyal supporters experience a new kind of sound with mashups of new and existing MJ efforts combined with production tweaks and creative mixes.
In the clip, Kevin Antunes, musical designer for the show, speaks on arranging Jackson's various hits as well as added gems that he paid special attention to when re-imagining the new songs. "When he's singing you can hear him stomping and I know from reading Bruce's book [Bruce Swedien's book 'In the Studio with Michael Jackson'], they built this wooden platform for Michael to perform on... when he went into the studio," the music vet shares while listening to a recording of MJ crooning through his 1988 hit 'Man in the Mirror.'
"He wasn't just coming to lay a vocal down. He would come and perform in the studio and you hear it. You hear it in the texture of his voice and he'd stomp and he'd have the headphones and you'd hear it all. And that stuff stayed on the records if you listen closely to the records, it's there."
Jamie King, the writer and director for Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, also drops some incite into how he was tapped for the project and what he hopes fans of the fallen superstar experience after listening to the 'Immortal' album.

I posted this at two hoax forum and now I got this:
CLARIFICATION REGARDING TRACKLISTING ON THE IMMORTAL 2-CD DELUXE EDITION Although the tracklisting on the inner jewel case is more accurate, the outer card does include all of the correct individual songs in the correct order they appear except that "Will You Be There" was inadvertently left off the outer card. The ONLY other difference is that some of the songs are grouped together on the outer card instead of being listed individually. For example, on the outer sleeve you see This Place Hotel/Smooth Criminal/Dangerous listed as one track when, in fact, on the record each song is a separate track and this separation of the tracks causes the track numbering to change but not the sequencing. The actual track breaks were made on the master after the outer sleeve was manufactured and will be corrected on future runs. With preplanned military precision, a fearsome fleet of more than 45 semis, buses and vehicles for the 220-strong cast, crew, equipment, instruments, scenery and theatrical-rigging equipment of Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour” spectacular will roll onto the Strip early this week. It will take some 14 hours to set up the largest-ever rock road show for Saturday’s glittering gala premiere, which kicks off the near monthlong run at Mandalay Bay.
More Cirque executives and show creators in the celebration convoy will arrive to join festivities for the first-ever and only Estate-authorized Michael Jackson Fan Fest, with memorabilia and authorized items from Neverland curated especially for the history-making 24-day, twice-nightly run. In all: 117 people in the production team, including 68 technicians; 90 people in the artistic team, including 65 performers; and 16 people in the touring management. An additional 75 Las Vegas workers will be hired as local crew.
It took more than 9,000 hours to create the props and puppets used in “Immortal,” including the 6-foot-tall elephants inspired by Elizabeth Taylor’s gifts of Baba and Gypsy to Michael. Twelve video projectors are used on the screens, and the cast changes in and out of 252 costumes, which have thousands of individual pieces.
Four special highlights you daren’t miss: the one-legged hip-hop dancer who will baffle and thrill with his unique acrobatic skills in tandem with twin dancing sensations Larry and Laurent Bourgeois; the sonic rainforest created for the “Ben” number with all the different animal sounds created by Taiko drums; you don’t just hear the string section in “Childhood” in normal stereo -- the entire orchestra spreads out through the audience, as do the dancers in their robes for the emotionally heart-stopping “Will You Be There” holding blinking hearts with 275 lights that change colors on their costumes to merge into a sky-bound constellation; and also give a little extra applause to my friend Tina Guo, the sexiest electronic cellist on Earth who will knock out the audience.

“Immortal” is the world’s largest Michael Jackson theatrical show, and Cirque, who last week announced the surprise 2012 closing of its Elvis Presley show “Viva Elvis” here at Aria, has a $100-million bet riding on the King of Pop’s success. It will be a full year after “Immortal” moves on from Las Vegas to continue its global 4-year tour before a second and permanent Michael Jackson show residency -- and Neverland-themed nightclub -- by Cirque opens at Mandalay Bay’s Lion King Theater, which closes here Dec. 31 for the 12-month makeover. After the expected shuttering of “Viva Elvis,” Michael’s show will then be the seventh Cirque show on the Strip.
Michael’s love affair with Cirque began in the late 1980s when he went to its tent show in Santa Monica, Calif., with lawyer John Branca, who serves as the Estate’s co-executor today. “I'll never forget it. We drove to Santa Monica together -- no bodyguards -- and sat there in the front row,” John told me. “Michael was dazzled, and backstage after the show he wanted to meet all the performers. It was a very passionate evening. He became a huge Cirque fan.”
Michael, who saw every Cirque show here more than once, visited Cirque headquarters in Montreal in 2004 and had many talks about working with the French-Canadian performing troupe on a show in which he would star. Cirque President and CEO Daniel Lamarre said, “Just as Michael was ahead of his time, we had to be ahead of our time with this show. Not only have we used all the technology there is, but we have developed new technologies to create a breakthrough as Michael did when he was touring.”
Every creative person on the “Immortal” team that I spoke with told me that right from the first day of rehearsals, they all felt that Michael was still with them in spirit, not only watching over the production but also that this was the show he would have blessed and wanted himself.
Creator, writer and chief choreographer Jamie King told me: “Our performers are honored, inspired yet humbled in maintaining his legacy and preserving what he left behind for the world to enjoy. They feel Michael is here in every way. As much of an emotional roller coaster ride it has been, they are proud to be a part of it.
“Michael has been the guiding hand in all of this, and he would have definitely signed off on it, as well. The entire show is generated from his lead vocals, from the master recordings, and so he’s with us every night. There are elements that bring him back to life. This has become the tour he couldn’t do.”

Worldwide phenom Cirque du Soleil recently canceled one of two planned “Michael Jackson — The Immortal World Tour” shows at Taco Bell Arena in Boise. People who bought tickets to the Jan. 4 concert automatically were reassigned new seats to the Jan. 3 show. Or they can get a refund.
The reason given — not just here but in other markets where Cirque has been canceling shows sporadically: The 38 semi-truck production is so big that they don’t have time to get loaded up and make it to the next market in time.
Uh. Doesn’t it seem like Cirque du Soleil might have this whole “tour routing” thing figured out by now? And why just certain cities? Viewing the rest of the itinerary, it makes you wonder how they’ll manage the 1,200-mile journey from Denver to Sacramento in a single day. Or other tour stops, for that matter.
Perhaps ticket sales have been — as ***** once sang — “Bad.” Or at least not good enough to support multiple shows in certain markets. There were definitely tons of seats left in Boise. It’s pretty obvious when you can just dump all the tickets from the canceled show into empty seats remaining in the other, right?
Of course, there’s no way I can confirm that weak ticket sales are the real reason for the axed Boise gig. Promoters (and, sadly, promoter-whipped venues) aren't keen on transparency. Meanwhile, journalists (well, me, at least) aren't keen on printing reasons for cancellations that smell funny. So we're left with blog speculation.
Whatever the case, a fuller room is usually more fun, so the remaining Cirque performance at Taco Bell Arena should benefit from the extra bodies.

Publicist: Michael Jackson's kids to walk red carpet
ORLANDO --
Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour is coming to the Amway Center in February. Since it premieres in Las Vegas this Saturday, we're heading there to give you a sneak peek.
We're learning that the red carpet event preceding the Cirque du Soleil production is going to be quite the affair!
The show publicist, Maxime Charbonneau, tells us that Michael Jackson's children will be walking the red carpet. Jackson's brothers Tito, Marlon, and Jackie are also expected to be there.
We have yet to receive a list of the rest of the celebrities making appearances, but Charbonneau says there will be a bunch of TV personalities. (We will be Tweeting like mad from the red carpet, so be sure to follow us on Twitter).
Here's our coverage plan:
- Friday, Dec. 2 - Meet up with Vegas headliners and performers to hear what they think about this Jackson-themed show. Each session of Michael Jackson Fan Fest will last for four hours in Mandalay Bay’s Bayside Exhibit Hall. Fan Fest will be open from noon to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 6, 7, 13, and 14.
You can buy tickets even if you're not seeing the Cirque show. Fan Fest ticket prices start at $35 (plus fees) for general admission, with $75 for VIP tickets. VIP tickets include priority entrance into the event and all activities within the event, a commemorative lanyard and access to the VIP-only lounge.

So what's the IMMORTAL World Tour, presented by the Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil, going to look like when it comes here? The production gives Michael Jackson music a Cirque "twist," portraying a unique view into the spirit, passion and heart of the artistic genius who forever transformed pop culture. At times, there will be lots of "Michaels" on stage. There will be smoke, pyrotechnics, jaw-dropping bodily contortions, and heart-thumping music you'll want to sing along to. The production features more than 60 international dancers, musicians and acrobats, all striving to capture the essence and soul of the King of Pop.
Tickets are now on sale for the Orlando performances Feb. 28 and Feb. 29 at Amway Center. Tickets are $50 to $250 each.
When you look at those prices its no wonder that plenty of seats will be empty, we are going through some bad times right now and 50 and 250 dollars are a tat tooo expensive right now. Don't you think

Michael Jackson memorabilia at Vegas premiere of Cirque du Soleil's 'Immortal'
LAS VEGAS -- Yep, that's the glove.
We're the only media from Central Florida in Las Vegas covering the city's premiere of Cirque du Soleil's "Michael Jackson: The Immortal" World Tour.
The show is coming to Orlando in a few months, so we wanted to show you what the buzz is like here in Sin City.
Coinciding with the Vegas premiere is Fan Fest, the first one ever that the Estate of Michael Jackson had authorized.
For two weeks only at Mandalay Bay, fans get to check out never-before-seen memorabilia. Organizers have told us everything on display came from a warehouse in L.A., and it has all been hidden from the public -- until now.
Here are some of the items that, to our surprise, are in storage:
The "Billie Jean" glove and socks Red 1984 American Music Awards jacket "This Is It" custom-made outfits that Michael may have never gotten to wear before he died 1963 blue Rolls Royce Phantom 5 Custom Peter Pan-themed golf cart driven by Neverland Ranch guests Bumper cars made in Italy Michael's arcade games, showing he had the high score Artwork made by fans that Michael never threw away Cars and set material from films and music videos A huge castle Michael had on display in his living room.
So why in the world was this stuff in a warehouse?
"You know, I can't really answer that question," said Ashley Reed, who was chosen to sift through the King of Pop's belongings and help select what should go on display at Fan Fest.
Reed said this was a professional "high."
"Two of my favorite pieces that we thought fans would love are two dioramas," she said. "It's a Pinocchio and Cinderella diorama that were actually created for Michael. These actually were originally in the wall of Neverland Ranch."
As you may know, Michael adored anything Disney. He even had a bust of Walt Disney on his library mantle, which is also on display at Fan Fest.
I spoke with Michael's brother, Jackie, at the weekend event. The Jackson family, including Michael's children, was celebrating the Vegas premiere of "The Immortal."
On the red carpet, Jackie admitted he was surprised by what was pulled out of storage.
"He got some incredible costumes that I've not seen before," he said. "His chess set is just wonderful -- his chess set is amazing. I wish I had it."
The Vegas premiere of the Cirque production brought out other huge celebs from Glee, Entourage, The Sopranos, the movie The Help, and Vegas headliners like Carrot Top, Criss Angel and Holly Madison of Peepshow.
"The Immortal" is coming to Orlando in February, but Michael Jackson's belongings won't. Fan Fest is only in Vegas.
However, according to Michael's former dancer and the creator of the Cirque show, Central Florida will still get inside the King of Pop's mind more than ever before.
"You really said it best," Jamie King told us Sunday inside the Mandalay Bay Arena. "[The show lets fans] see the world through his eyes, which were the eyes of a child."

It sounds so weird, the family for sure visited Michael at Neverland and WE saw this chess set a long time ago. How come his brother didn't see it before?
Makes me wonder if Jackie is not talking about something else. Michael plays chess and could it be that Jackie is making reference to Michael's ability to forseen the next moves?
